Chris Middlehurst

Chris' first steps on the motorsport ladder began in karting at his 10th birthday party.  Being keen not to force his hobby on Chris, Andy had let Chris find his own love of motorsport.  As a relative latecomer to karting Chris started in the Cadet class which has seen stars such as Jensen Button and Lewis Hamilton show what they are capable of.

Under the watch eye of the Middlehurst Motorsport headed by father Andy Middlehurst Chris progressed through the ranks of karting from Cadets, Rotax Mini Max and Junior Rotax claiming some notable wins and club championship along the way.

What a season it would prove to be.  At the age of 16 Chris won virtually every Championship at this level that he entered.  The Roll of Honour included:2011 saw Chris make the biggest step of his career so far.  He graduated into single seater racing with a step into Formula Ford 1600cc.  With the British Formula Ford Champions in a transgressional year the team opted to buy a 2 race old Van Demien chassis with a proven Kent engine for the 2011 season.

  • Northern FF1600 Champion
  • National FF1600 Champion

In 2012, the Middlehurst Motorsport proved again why they have historically been so successful when running in-house teams.  BARC Formula Renault would be the next stepping stone for Chris.  This category was designed to be a feeder formula for the main BTCC support and Renault backed series.  However, with the collapse of the main series a lot of well funded and talented drivers and experienced big teams entered the championship.

Undeterred, the Middlehurst Motorsport team learned a new car and a new way of driving from ground zero.  By the end of the season Chris was one of the most consistent podium finishers and when into the final round of the winter series as a genuine title contender.

With a development and learning year out of the way Chris will be aiming for a championship fight in 2013. Keep up to date with Chris at
