In all its different models throughout the years a Nissan GT-R has always been an advanced piece of engineering using the latest in technology. To ensure continued peak performance, regular maintenance by our trained and experienced technicians is a minimum requirement for the future performance and economy of your vehicle. Our dedicated GT-R workshop is staffed with experienced, factory-trained technicians who have access to the latest computer technology and diagnostic equipment. These technicians are trained to work with the current GT-R, GT-R SpecV, GT-R NISMO Clubsport Version and former generations of the Nissan Skyline GT-R. We have a wealth and depth of knowledge and direct access to Nissan Technical information that independent outfits do not have access to and cannot support.

Furthermore, our experienced technical and support staff all come from a motor racing/performance background with several of our employees currently or having competed in motorsport in the past.

All work is carried out using a full range of Nissan Special Services Tools (SSTs) including the very latest electronic software.  Our Parts Department is on hand to supply original parts and accessories as well as a selection of high quality parts from aftermarket suppliers.

Our clients are welcome to wait in our dedicated showroom with access to free Wi-FI and SKY TV which includes the SKY F1 channel.  Alternatively clients can opt to use one of our loan cars such they wish to visit attractions in the local area such as the Trafford Centre in Manchester or the Albert Dock in Liverpool.

Service Intervals

Nissan operate a Global policy for servicing the Nissan GT-R. Regardless of the territory that you operate your GT-R in you will find that the service requirements are the same.  The first GT-R was launched in the UK in April 2009,  GT-R's made in 2009 & 2010 was subject to servicing every 6,000 miles or 6 months (whichever occured soonest).  The launch of the minor change GT-R in 2011 saw service intervals change to 9,000 miles or 12 months (whichever occured soonest.)

Additionally each GT-R is subject to an annual optimisation.  During the warrantable period of a GT-R's life this service is provided free of charge by Nissan.

*NISSAN stipulate that certain parts and practices must be changed/carried out periodically.  In some cases failure to adhere to the terms and conditions can affect your NISSAN warranty.  While we are happy to tailor to your budget please be aware that we cannot offer full protection to the consumer.  An example of this would be substitution of genuine gearbox oil with Pentosin oil.

The Optimisation is a critical part of the GT-R's periodic maintainance.  Even though no parts are changed during this operation the adjustments that are made are very important part of keeping your GT-R running optimal performance and efficiency.

The first Optimisation service is carried out at 1200 miles.  This is often referred to as the 'running in' period.  A correct and thorough run in period is critical to the future feel of the GT-R.  Further optimisation operations are required annually.  For the first 3 years of the GT-R's life these operations are free of cost to GT-R owners provided they are carried out within the dealer network.

Failure to have the optimisation carried out annually can result in such issues as increased tyre wear, poor fuel economy and abnormal gearbox performance and functionality.

Transmission Clutch Settings

Probably the most important part of the GT-R is the transmission.  This single component of the GT-R is vital overall performance and feel.  Therefore, regular adjustment when required is vital. 




The GR6 gearbox requires adjustement and inspection using the latest Nissan Consult 3 Plus machine.  With this hardware we are able to, within reason, tailor the feel of the clutch to each owners requirements.

Wheel Alignment

Wheel alignment is an often overlooked aspect of road car performance.  For the GT-R this is a very important area, especially after the initial run in period.  The GT-R is very sensitive to geometery change and adjustment.  We are able to tune the GT-R's adjustable suspension to cater for your needs.  Whether it be city driving, normal road driving or track driving.

We only use the latest optical wheel alignment equipement that is periodically caliberated by the manufacturer so we can ensure that GT-R owners receive the highest possible levels of accuracy.

Engine settings (balancing of air flow for left and right banks)

As a Vee configuration engine the GT-R has two cylinder banks that operate independently.  These two banks need to work in unison to ensure peak operating conditions for the VR38DETT. 


During the optimisation we check the parameters of each bank and calibrate them accordlingly.  This includes the settings for the air flow sensors, gas sensors and turbo chargers.

Track & Motorsport Preparation

Our staff have various motorsport experience driving, running & building cars a many different levels and tracks across world.  With championship wins in Group N, podium finishes in BTCC, wins in Classic F1 at Monaco & Silverstone, Championship wins in Formula in Ford & podiums finishes BARC FRenault.

Furthermore, we have provided event support for Nissan Europe and its subsidiaries on such projects and the original GT-R launch in 2008, 2011 GT-R model launch and the RML Nissan Juke-R.  Our product evaluation has seen us travel as far afield as Fuji Speedway and Sendai Highland Raceway in Japan

*Nissan stipulate that the Nissan GT-R should be pre & post checked when undertaking any track work.  Failure to have your GT-R checked before and after any track usage could invalid future warranty claims.  Please refer to your owners manual for further details. 

Middlehurst Motorsport's Accident Repair Centre offers a unique service for GT-R customers in the UK.  Unlike other outlets that do not have an onsite bodyshop we can offer a full service without subcontracting and therefore compromising quality control.  Our Accident Centre is fully housed onsite in St Helens, Merseyside.

Because of the unique construction and materials used in the GT-R's chassis and body it is critical that any damage incurred requiring work in a bodyshop is repaired to the highest level

All Nissan High Performance Centres (NHPCs) must have access to an approved (and audited) local facility that has both the correct bodyshop tools and knowledge to ensure a GT-R performs and handles as expected after repair.


Middlehurst Motorsport is the only NHPC in the UK to have its GT-R Approved Bodyshop within the facility.

This ensures a faster completion of work and reduced the need for transportation to and from a third party facility for other non-bodyshop work after an accident.  From a customer point of view it also means you can communicate with Middlehurst as a one-stop-shop when it comes to understanding how the repairs are progressing.


Our preparation, repair and paint finishing skills do not begin and end with accident repairs.  We regularly undertake restoration, winter rebuilds and project work.  Some our work has included restoration of historic F1 & F2 cars, Group N R32 GT-R restoration, BARC Formula Renault paint preparation, classic Lotus Cortina shell preparation and painting along with other confidential high profile projects that you will have seen in the global press.
